Some people do this by imagining being gently tugged in the desired direction, while others prefer to imagine being pushed by a light pressure on the soles of their feet. Whatever works for you is fine. Concentrate on drift direction rather than speed. You may find that pointing one or two fingers towards a distant object such as a tree or a building can help guide your drift in that direction. Gentle flapping or swimming motions may also help to orient you in the desired direction. Once you have a good sense of how to control your drift direction, you can work in some up or down floating motion. When you drift while descending you may need to take a few steps after touchdown before coming to a full stop. Be sure to always face the direction of motion when landing! Once you have mastered the slow drift, you are ready to finally spread your figurative wings and fly away.
